A propos du prochain album de DEADSTAR

Le premier album de DEADSTAR, "The Hook Killer" vient d'être achevé. Le deuxiéme album qui s'intitulera "Leaving Childhood" est en phase de préparation. Il restera dans un style identique mais de nouvelles influences seront présentes, notamment l'utilisation d'instruments et d'ambiences ethniques.

DEADSTAR présent sur l'album "By the Gods : A Noble Tribute To Virgin Steele"

Créé en accord avec David DeFeis (VIRGIN STEELE, Chant) et à l'initiative de Matthew Knight (ETERNAL WINTER, Chant), cet album, actuellement en préparation , regroupe 14 classiques de VIRGIN STEELE réinterprétés par des groupes de Heavy Metal (à l'exception de DEADSTAR).

DEADSTAR a choisi de reprendre, dans une version orchestrale, le titre "Image Of A Faun At Twilight", issu de l'album "Noble Savage" (1985).

I truly appreciate all the special care and attention that you & all the bands have given to their tracks! I'm sure that this will be a truly Glorious & Noble album!

We are working on a new Virgin Steele album, and it should be out by October. We also will be doing more shows in Europe starting in the Summer and continuing again once the album is released, so it is quite possible that we will be in France again fairly soon.

Le titre "I Came For You", issu de "The Hook Killer" a été choisi pour figurer sur le dixième volume de la compilation Skeksis Netlabel Project qui regroupe plusieurs groupes et artistes Gothic et Dark Metal.

Chronique de "Moonlight" par Alvaro Pacheco (Burning Black Webzine - Chili)

DEADSTAR – Moonlight (Self Released): Deadstar is a French one man Dark/Ambient/Electronic project formed in 2002; Francois Pouvreau, mastermind and only member, recorded two demos (in 2003) before the releasing of "Moonlight". This work does not actually features new material, but compiles the best compositions of Deadstar early demos… The music on this demo could be described as a gloomy soundtrack-like sounding Dark Ambient piece; the neo classical multi-layered keyboard work in accurate conjunction with some deep sounding programmed percussion creates tense and intense symphonic and obscure atmospheres of power, splendor and horror, all combined in a very intelligent manner. If I had to set a parameter I would say this work sound like a mix between Nattefrost (the Danish project, not to be confused with the Norwegian Black Metal act), Burzum ("Hildskjalf" era) and Classical Music… I even think I heard a slight reference to Grieg at the 8^th track "Fantasma" and another small allusion to Tchaikovsky at "The Mansion"…

"Moonlight" is a quite varied work, unlike many of the Ambient laden projects, Deadstar is focused in create eclectic and multidimensional atmospheres and structures, instead of the minimalist or monolithic ones we are use to hear at this kind of music (and which I also enjoy). This work shows a very solid and pretty original proposal that, even when certainly transmits coherence and solidity, still can improve its composition style, maybe leaving behind some of the intuitively composed sound we can hear at places (especially noticeable at some pretty abrupt songs ends) and embrace a more premeditated composition, which we can also notice along each track this demo contains… "Moonlight" is an interesting and firm demonstration, which unquestionably shows a great potential despite of the natural limitation of a demo-work… I bet for a much stronger work of this project in the future… nice work !
